Rick has been in pastoral ministry since he was 19 years of age, serving as an associate youth minister, professor of youth and family ministry, trainer, consultant and, most recently, a self-supporting missionary.  In his long pastoral career, he has served seven churches part-time/interim and three churches full-time in Idaho, Nebraska, Kansas, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wyoming. Rick was also a professor of Christian education and youth ministry for Boise Bible College (1992-1998), Saint Louis Christian College (1998-2003) and Kentucky Christian University (2003-2007). Rick has also trained children’s and youth ministry students at Northwest Nazarene University, Northwest University, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Lincoln Christian Seminary, Central Christian College of the Bible and Nebraska Christian College. Currently, Rick teaches online graduate courses for Hope International University.

Since 1985, Rick has given over 3500 ministry presentations (workshops, seminars, keynotes) in every U.S. state except for Hawaii.  He's trained leaders, teachers and parents in Mexico, Canada, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa, Cote D'Ivoire and Moldova.  He's penned five nationally published books on smaller church ministry and preaching, plus fourteen self-published titles on leadership, classroom management, parenting, apologetics and creative communication.  He's a regular contributor to The Christian Standard and Children’s Ministry Magazine, and has authored articles for Group, Jr. High Ministry, and Youth Worker Journal, to name a few.  He's penned curriculum for Standard Publishing, Christ In Youth, College Press and Group Publishing.  Rick has also been on radio and television as a guest commentator and expert.

Rick and Linda continue to remain as active as time and opportunity allows with the churches they interact with here in Boise, Idaho and lead a life group connected with Eagle Christian Church (Eagle, ID).  Rick also serves as a substitute teacher for a local Christian high school.
